What that means for the installation

Planning in Nottingham: what changed in 2025

Previously only heating-only heat pumps qualified. The one-metre boundary rule went at the same time, the size limit rose to 1.5 cubic metres and detached houses gained a second permitted unit. Noise is still governed by MCS 020 at the neighbouring window. If you are in a flat, none of this displaces your lease or the freeholder's consent. In The Park and Mapperley Park the conservation designations still govern; across the city's terraces the boundary change makes the practical difference.
