How an install in Halifax actually goes

Four steps, and you know the price before step three.

01
We come and look

An engineer walks the rooms, then works outside. On a sloping site the outdoor unit needs a level, free-draining base, and a position clear of the wind that funnels along the valley.

02
You get the design and the price

System sized against your actual rooms, with the quote agreed in writing before anything is ordered.

Fixed in writing
03
We install it

Most single-room installs in Halifax are done in a day. On a sloping plot the unit base is set out first, because a genuinely level mount is what keeps it quiet.

Covering Halifax & Nearby

We install throughout West Yorkshire — nearby towns have their own local pages too.

Halifax is really two jobs

What the housing here is actually like, and what that means once we are on site.

Property types we see in Halifax

Halifax is built in gritstone on some of the steepest ground in the region. Victorian terraces line the valley sides, there are substantial stone villas at Savile Park and Skircoat, and post-war estates sit on the higher ground.

LOWER GROUNDHIGHER GROUND

What that means for the installation

Halifax is the most topographically demanding town we cover. Level differences between the front and rear of a property are frequently a full storey or more, which pushes the vertical separation between indoor and outdoor units towards the system limit. We measure that properly at survey and specify a system rated for the actual separation rather than assuming a standard install will do.

Planning in Halifax: what changed in 2025

Boundary standoff1m → none
Permitted unit size0.6 → 1.5m³

May 2025 removed the condition that used to cause most of the trouble. Until then an outdoor unit had to stand a metre clear of the boundary; now it can sit against the fence. Three other limits eased at the same time — unit size went from 0.6 to 1.5 cubic metres, detached houses were allowed two units instead of one, and air-to-air systems running in cooling mode became eligible at last. What did not change is noise: MCS 020 still sets a limit at the nearest neighbour's window, and neither listed buildings nor highway-facing conservation elevations gained anything. Halifax's gritstone terraces sit on genuinely steep ground with almost no gap to the boundary, so scrapping the one-metre rule is the single most useful change here.

What goes into what

The property types we actually see in Halifax, and what each one decides about the install.

Detached

Usually a choice of elevations, which on a slope means the unit can go where the ground is level and the wind is off it. Two units are now permitted on a detached house.

Listed and conservation

Consent is the starting assumption. None of the 2025 relaxations apply to a listed building or a highway-facing elevation in a conservation area.

Solid stone or brick

Thick solid walls with no cavity. Cores are longer and slower, so routes are planned around existing openings and boxed internally rather than cut on the day.

Why Halifax calls us back

Four things we will not move on.

01

Legally certified on refrigerant

Every engineer on a Halifax job is F-Gas registered, with compliant records kept on every installation.

02

The quote is the price

Agreed in writing before any work begins, after a free on-site assessment. Nothing added afterwards.

03

Sized to the room, not the catalogue

Systems specified against your actual rooms and usage - including which elevation the room is on, because aspect and exposure change the load more than floor area does.

04

Backed after we leave

Comprehensive warranty on parts and labour, backed by an established group trading since 2019.
