The full range

Daikin air conditioning — the whole range, honestly compared

Three wall units that share the same engine and differ almost entirely in how they look and how hard they work at it. Plus the floor and ceiling formats most people do not know Daikin make.

Three wall units. One set of underlying kit.

All three run the same R‑32 refrigerant, the same inverter compressor family and the same Onecta app. All three go down to 19dB on their quietest setting. What actually separates them is the front panel, the sensors and how much you are willing to spend on not noticing it.

The three that go on your wall

In rough order of how much they are designed to be looked at.

Daikin Perfera wall-mounted indoor unit in white, a compact unit with a wide discharge flap
FTXM

Perfera

The one to buy if you care what it costs to run. Perfera carries the highest seasonal efficiency of the three and the most serious air treatment Daikin fit to a wall unit — Flash Streamer, a silver allergen-removal filter and a titanium apatite deodorising filter, rather than one filter doing everything.

It also has the 2-area motion sensor, which steers air away from wherever you are sitting and drops the unit to an economy setting when the room empties. White only, and a plainer face than the other two — which is the trade.

Daikin Stylish wall-mounted indoor unit in white, a slim curved unit
FTXA

Stylish

The slimmest casing Daikin make, and the widest choice of finishes of anything we fit — nine, including wood effects, fabric and leather. If the unit is going somewhere it will be looked at every day, this is usually the answer.

Presence and floor sensors, Wi-Fi as standard, and the same 19dB quiet setting as the other two. Efficiency sits a step below Perfera, which is the price of the shape.

Daikin Emura wall-mounted indoor unit in silver, a curved aluminium-fronted unit
FTXJ

Emura

The statement piece. A curved aluminium fascia in white, silver or matt black — the one people photograph, and the one that turns up in architectural press. Same 19dB, same capacities, same app.

Two-area presence sensing and the same underlying engine as the Stylish. You are paying for the material and the shape, and if that matters in the room it is going in, it is worth it.

Not everything goes on a wall

Floor, ceiling and hidden entirely

Daikin build the same system in formats most people never get shown.

Floor-standing

Sits under a window where a radiator would, which suits rooms with no usable wall height — bay windows, dwarf walls, rooms with picture rails you would rather not cut through.

Concealed ceiling

The unit disappears into the ceiling void and you see grilles only. The quietest option in the room, and the one that survives a conservation officer.

Cassette

Flush with the ceiling, blowing in four directions. Standard in shops and offices, and increasingly in large open-plan extensions.

Ceiling suspended

For long or awkward rooms where you need throw rather than spread, and there is no ceiling void to hide anything in.

Outside

One outdoor unit. Up to five rooms.

You can mix formats on the same system — a Stylish in the lounge, a concealed unit in a bedroom, a floor unit in the study — all off one box outside.

Multi-split

Five indoor units, one condenser

One mounting, one set of drains, one thing to service and one thing to look at. Each indoor unit still runs its own temperature and schedule.

Size the outdoor unit now

Specify a larger condenser today and connect the spare room in two years without touching what is already in.

Quieter outside

One unit, not three

A single outdoor unit is measurably quieter than two or three smaller ones, and gives the neighbours one thing to notice rather than several.

And there is one that does your hot water as well

Daikin Multi+ connects a 120L or 230L domestic hot water cylinder to the same outdoor unit that runs your indoor units. In summer the heat pulled out of your rooms goes into the tank. It is a different proposition to the units on this page, so it has its own page.

Installation

Why have ArcticNord fit it?

Daikin build good kit. Whether you get the efficiency on the label is decided by what happens before anyone picks up a spanner.

The size is calculated, not guessed

We run a heat-load calculation on the actual room — glazing, orientation, insulation, occupancy. An oversized unit short-cycles, runs noisily and costs more to buy and to run.

We will steer you off the expensive one

If a Perfera in white does the job and you were about to buy an Emura for a room nobody sits in, we will say so. The margin is not worth the review.

F-Gas registered engineers

Handling refrigerant legally requires certification. We hold it, and the paperwork you get at handover proves it.

The outdoor unit is sited deliberately

Access, airflow, condensate and noise at the neighbouring window. Decided before we quote, not on the day.

Finishes seen, not guessed from a screen

Nine Stylish finishes look very different on a wall to how they look on a website. We will get the right samples in front of you first.

Commissioned properly

Pressure tested, charged, performance logged, controls explained. The last hour on site is the one that decides how it behaves for ten years.

Common questions

Which of the three should I actually buy?

If running cost matters most, Perfera. If the unit is going somewhere prominent, Stylish for the choice of nine finishes or Emura for the aluminium fascia. All three are quiet, all three cover 2.5 to 5.0kW, and all three will heat as well as cool.

Is the efficiency difference worth paying for?

Perfera is roughly half a point of SEER ahead of the other two. On a bedroom used a few hours a day that is pennies. On an open-plan room running most of the day, it adds up over ten years. We will put actual numbers against your rooms rather than leave you guessing.

Can I mix different Daikin units on one system?

Yes. Up to five indoor units of different types can run from one outdoor unit, each controlled separately. Wall, floor, concealed and cassette can all share the same condenser.

Do they heat as well as cool?

Yes, all of them. A Daikin wall unit is an air-to-air heat pump — heating is what it does most of the year in this country, and it does it at a fraction of the running cost of electric heating.

What about hot water?

That is Daikin Multi+, which pairs a hot water cylinder with the same outdoor unit. It has its own page.
